Los Angeles Unified reaches tentative agreement with teacher union to reopen schools

Los Angeles Unified students are one step closer to returning to their classrooms after the district and its teachers union reached a tentative agreement on the reopening of schools for in-person instruction.

The agreement, announced after months long negotiations, would affect 465,000 students in kindergarten to 12th grade in the state’s largest school district.

Under the agreement, which must still be ratified by the union, preschools and elementary schools would reopen for in-person instruction by mid-April, along with services for students with disabilities. Students in middle and high schools would return to in-person instruction by the end of April.
